Geting To know Alani
Are you from New Orleans? If not, where are you from?
Proud to say I was born and raised in New Orleans! I have lived in Algiers all my life.
What do you like to do in New Orleans?
My favorite thing to do is attend the festivals. We usually have them all year round, but of course, COVID prevented that this year. I would recommend walking downtown and getting beignets to anyone who hasn’t been down here before.
What are some of your hobbies/interests?
I actually really enjoy reading. I am currently reading about five books, my favorite being Oprah’s new release “the Path made Clear.” Aside from that, I enjoy shopping of course, and exercising.
Do you have a go-to local resturant around here that you would recommend?
Not a favorite restaurant because I love to eat, but my favorite things to order is seafood. We also have the best soul food!
Alani's Favorites
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is For Colored Girls. I am a big advocate for women’s health. That movie gave me a depiction of the lives of women of color, and the issues we face everyday.
What is your favorite genre of music? Who are some of your favorite artists?
I am a hip-hop and R&B girl all the way. Right now, I love Jhene Aiko, Beyonce of course, and many more.
What television show right now? Do you have a favorite show?
I Just finished watching POSE, a series on the LQBTQ+ community in the 1990s. That was pretty emotional, but I love how they stuck together during such a devastating time. If you can’t tell, I am very much a drama queen when it comes to television!
Do you have a favorite travel destination? Is there any place you would like to travel to?
I love to go anywhere with clear beach water, but I would like to go to Paris or London to shop one day.
